Just got back from the 'shack. Got there just before the lunch rush at about 11:25- literally less than five minutes from when I got there to eating my burger. As I was munching the line got progressively longer.
Had a double shack burger- this was a tasty, medium sized cheeseburger, dominated by the meat, not the tomatoes or lettuce- which really didn't come into play until bite five or so (a triple would really destroy any balance.) Bun was soft and yummy. The whole burger didn't "gel" nearly as well as the burger joint burgers- the "shake sauce" doesn't come through at all- I added some mustard. The milkshake (I made up chocoalte caramel) was delicious but not so thick.
This was a good $11 lunch, and I look forward to going back sometime (want to try the lemonade,) but would never consider waiting in line 20 minutes+.
Much better than NY Burger Company down the block.....but for my $11 I think the Blue Smoke burger may be the way to go. (no shake but a bigger burger) Obviously, this is a much different burger, but it is my current fave in the hood.
Thanks for the recs!
