I recently got my first Staub DO, an essential 3.75qtz in Cherry. My oh my I love it! Everything I've been cooking since I got it has turned out beautiful, just as the pot. So, I kind convince hubbie that my obsessive research over the cast iron cookware before the purchase pays off and even he agrees we should get more and I'm thinking of expanding my collection.
Before buying this pot, I was considering between Le Creuset and Staub, and in fact spent 3 weeks researching LC ovens because we already have a bit of LC stoneware collection. However, I fell for the rich cherry red of Staub the first time I saw it in real life. Now I have 2 first-world problems here, poor me:
1. if I get another oven, should I get an oval or round for an ~7qtz pot? The idea of the big bird fitting perfectly in the oval one is very tempting, but round might be more practical? Any advice? We are just a small family 2, but I love cooking and do cook a lot. I have a set of round glass ovens by Visions so I'm very familiar with round pots. Never owned an oval before.
2. Colour: I love my cherry pot, but I notice there are a few sales around of Staub 'Rouge/Red' and then 'Grenadine'. I know they're not the same and wonder if anyone here own different shades. I'm curious how they look next to each other. Too bad my local store doesn't have all shades. How would you judge these shades next to LC 'Cerise' red? I also consider LC 'Cerise' because it's available everywhere and in every shape possible. Maybe it's just me, or does anyone notice the Staub pots have a better glaze compare to LC? LC on the other hand has the whole spectrum of gorgeous colours!
