On the way to SFO - a really good sandwich

If you’re brown-bagging your inflight food, Darby Dan Sandwich Co. is a must-stop on the way to SFO. 733 North Airport Blvd. South San Francisco. From Hwy 101 driving south, take the South San Francisco Exit (before Grand). and turn left onto Airport Blvd. It’s on the right side of the street. telephone 650-876-0122. Monday - Friday 8am -3pm for the Kitchen Hours, Deli Open 7 days a week. 8am - 5pm weekdays, Sat/Sun 8:30am - 4pm.
Big Salads. The Half and Half ($6.50) sandwich special (available on Thursday and Friday only) is half each of crab salad and shrimp salad; with everything means mayo, mustard, garlic mayo, jalapeno, lettuce, tomato. Get extra napkins. I do it without the jalapenos because the heat overwhelms the crab.
Other good sandwiches: The Darby Dan, The Sleeper, and the Piccolo.
If you don’t want to wait in the long line at the sandwich counter, order from the Open Kitchen/Grill at the cash register and take a table. You won’t leave hungry.
