SF Ferry Plaza Market - Garlic Alert

Stanley Stephan | Jun 1, 200202:25 PM     12

During the next month or two check the Small Potatoes stand for two different varieties of garlic. Wallace planted them from a heirloom seed catalog and, if you are a garlic lover, give them a try and let him know if he should keep planting them.

Small Potatos is next to the catus stand on the corner. I think this was the last week for the red garlic which was so fragrant that I could smell it from a few feet away. Wallace said it was his best year ever for this variety.

I lied last week when I said Green Valley Farm had the only tasty blueberries on the west coast. I forgot about Blossom Bluff blueberries. They only have a small quantity almost hidden next to the scale. Really sweet and worth the $5. Last year they were only available one week, so I don't know for sure if any will appear next week. Blossom Bluff is the peach stand on the corner near the restaurants. (Yes, I know Langier has bluberries. However, IMO, they are too tart and the better selection is to wait for the blueberry jam).
