SF daughter seeks dinner for NY parents

So, I'm looking for some ideas for places my Mid-town parents can eat on weeknights, with possible X-mas gift certificate to follow. Neighborhood doesn't matter so much, interesting but not a scene, places they have a reasonable chance of getting into without reserving weeks/months in advance. They're sophisticated diners who love food but don't want the length and hugeness of tasting menus. I've read down the board and so far Annisa, Le Tableau, Blue Hill and Prune seem right. What do you all think?

Thanks in advance for any guidance/suggestions.
