I just have to say thank you to all of you who recommended this brilliant restaurant for my recent trip to Baltimore, whereby I brought my largest client to Charleston.
Where do I start? Well, perhaps at the finish - several people, including my client said it was one of the finest meals they had ever had the privilege of eating. I am one of them. The service was impeccable and warm. The food was absolutely divine - "I didn't put anything in my mouth that was not outstanding" (one quote) - and the wine list well picked and organized.
Highlights included the bisques, the cheese plates, the beef tenderloin, the best sweetbreads I have ever had, the grits and andouille. I could go on. The people of the restaurant are clearly very proud to work there, and it really shows in how they carry themselves.
In closing I want to note that the next night I was fortunate enough to get a reservation in NYC at Mario Batali's Babbo, and as I left the restaurant and passed Sarah Jessica Parker's table, all I could think was - how I would far rather have spent the night at Charleston. It was frankly a superior restaurant, in every respect, and for those lucky enough to live close by, enjoy it - it's wonderful.
