SF bakery with Mother's Day treats?

lady | Apr 25, 2005 07:46 PM

I don't know what other word to use, but I'm looking for some feminine cookies/tarts/cupcakes. My boyfriend's mom is visiting soon and I'm meeting her for the first time on Mother's Day. Since I don't know her tastes, I want to get her an assortment of small things (no croissants or cakes). I do know that she enjoyed the English lemon tea biscuits and Dolfin pink peppercorn chocolate bar I included in a care package when she had hurt herself, if that helps at all. Miette at the Ferry Building is exactly what I'm looking for in terms of looks and packaging, but I've read less than enthusiastic comments about the taste here. Does anyone recommend anything from Miette? I was thinking Citizen Cake or Citizen Cupcake, but do they they have anything other than cakes and cupcakes? I don't crave sweets often so I'm at a loss. If several different places have outstanding things, I'm willing to travel around to collect things, as long as it's in SF and I can do it on Saturday or Sunday. I'd really appreciate any help!
