I'm doing a bit of research on service in the food industry. I'm interested in knowing what you can't stand with regard to service and what you love. What do you consider to be great service? It doesn't have to be limited to fine restaurants. Delis. donut shoppes, pizzerias...anything applies. Feel free to give examples. Also - the most obnoxious "gimmicks" - like the line dances at Lone Star Steakhouse and places that expect you to toss your own salad.
My peeves are when you're server insists on sitting down with you to get "personal. My likes are when (and this is silly) when the server refills the water glass off the table. a local donut shop has a wonderful, server who ALWAYS puts the handle of the coffee cup ay four o'clock. I love it. It's the little things that count.
