We just had yet another bad service experience at Osaka. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the hostess there that is the worst. Once she wanted us to share a table with a pair of strangers on a crowded Friday night. After a very long week, we said we preferred to wait. She gave us a very hard time and asked us in front of the other couple who did want to share and who also proceeded to give us a very hard time. So unprofessional. We really should have left then. Once she made us wait in the freezing cold for 45 minutes even though there were open tables-- she refused to seat us (2 people) at a 4 top even though it was 10pm on a week night. Last time, she chastised us for not making reservations after we walked in at 10:30 on a friday night to a 50% empty restaurant and were seated right away. It's been a running joke for us about how terrible the service is and how miserable and unprofessional the hostess is, but it's also pretty sad.
We've tried to remedy this by just ordering for delivery. It never takes less than an hour for us to get our sushi and often longer. We've gone one step further and ordered for pickup, but then we just end up waiting there for 20 minutes.
We keep going back because it is the only good sushi place in the area. There are decent places like Hana Cafe on Smith, but barely.
