What to serve for brunch with pear/prune kugel?

I am trying to decide what to serve for New Years brunch to complement this dish:

which is bread based, sweet and savory , and rich.
I would like one or two other items, we are considering sausage as this is Alsatian but I am interested in your thoughts. We will be serving a very good local hard cider to drink.
