I didn't find a post doing the board search - a newish taqueria located on the northwest side of the intersection in the same strip mall as a Subway. I finally made it in for lunch today, and would put the machaca plate up I ordered against any in the city. Fresh, homemade, perfectly balanced with Anaheim chilis and onion, lots of fresh, tender meat and even a few bay leaves in the sauce, always a good sign. The rice and beans were light and fresh, great fresh guacamole.

Though open til midnight (from 7 am, 7 days a week!), it's sort of a lunch place, similar to Tere's down on Melrose in that it's clean and comfortable. The menu is pretty standard L.A.-Mexican (tacos, enchiladas, mariscos) with a few things that are less common (pollo guisado, chuletas) and apparently do daily specials. Also, they have Mexican Coke for you fans, as well as fresh juices. I'm eager to try other items - just have a good feeling about this place.

Last thing - parking is very tight but there's metered parking along Sta. Monica just west of here (be careful of traffic!).
