I intentionally didn't put this posting under 'Chains', because I think SBC only has two locations - Longmeadow, MA and Glastonbury, CT.

Anyways, I went to the Glastonbury location yesterday for lunch. SBC instantly reminded me of a small-scale, friendlier Panera. They had homemade breads, salads, signature sandwiches, paninis etc.

I had one of their vegetarian sandwiches - pear, gorgonzola, walnut and ginger dressing on homemade whole wheat (No. 15). Ordinarily, I LOVE the combination of pear, gorgonzola and walnuts as a salad. The sandwich was a big disappointment. I think the canned pears did it. Or maybe the combination didn't mesh well with the earthy bread. Maybe the ginger dressing was too much? I ended up only eating 1/2 the sandwich. Yuck.

Even my friends were concerned....I very rarely don't like food!

Other selections on the menu probably would have been better. I'm kicking myself for not having the mozzarella, tomato & basil pesto sandwich (No. 16). I'll definitely give SBC another chance, I'll just try something different :)
