My father's birthday is coming up, and the family would like to gather for a traditional prime rib dinner. Problem is, he's fixated on Lawry's, which the rest of us find an outdated tourist trap with overpriced, less-than-outstanding fare and a cavernous, unpleasant ambiance.
Does anyone have any GREAT, traditional prime rib recommendations around L.A.?
The only other places that come to mind are the Tam-O-Shanter in Los Feliz, where we've been turned off by indifferent service on the last couple of visits; and Damon's in Glendale, which is not exactly the traditional fine dining experience we're looking for (though we love it dearly for nearly every other occasion).
