Seeking chow near Kerrville

I've recently departed Chowhound Heaven (that would the SF Bay Area, folks) for Kerrville TX. Something of a change to say the least. I wasn't totally shocked since I was born and raised in Texas, but Kerrville isn't a food town. Even the cue and Tex-Mex seem sub par, although there are a few possibilities left to try in those areas.

I have been to most of the restaurants in town already. The only really good one --River View Inn -- closed shortly after I went there. Places advertise seafood, steaks and Cajun, but most of the menu turns out to be fried. Not that there's anything wrong with fried -- occasionally.

Acquaintances tell me the best eating locally is in Fredericksburg. I intend to give it a go along with a few remaining hopes in Kerrville, but it's becoming clearer and clearer that I'm not going to satisfy my cravings nearby. I'll drive an hour or two if necessary. Where in San Antonio or Austin can you find Mediterranean, Pacific Fusion or Asian?. Hell, I'll drive to Houston if I have to. I'm ready to kill for sushi and sashimi. I got so desperate that I bought a slab of yellowtail at HEB – not an inspired idea. If there are no great Japanese restaurants around (or even if there are), how about Asian markets? Are there any with fresh seafood and produce?
