I'm hoping for some dining guidance for an upcoming 3-night trip to Bruges. I've perused the Bruges boards, but there aren't many recent threads - would love some fresh perspectives on the Bruges dining scene.
My wife and I will be traveling without the kids (which doesn't happen often), so we're hoping to take advantage and enjoy some great meals.
Right now I'm thinking of one splurge meal (currently leaning toward Hertog Jan with De Jonkman a close second). Should I consider others on the high end of the spectrum?
Splurges aside, we're really just hoping to eat at some solid restaurants to enjoy local/traditional fare done right. We prefer cozy and intimate vs. stuffy and formal (which probably sounds strange, given the restaurants listed above). For us the dining experience is (almost) as much about the setting/location/service as it is the food. Thus far the short list includes:
Den Gouden Harynck
In Den Wittenkop
Bistro Den Huzaar
I'd love any input on the restaurants above, and whether I'm missing any must-dine-at restaurants (I'm sure I am). I'd also love any recs for chocolate shops to visit.
