Discovered a charming new restaurant just around the corner from my place.A true gem in the rough. Dropped into Giorno e Sera (4657 St-Denis) two weeks ago with a friend in from San Francisco. We were simply looking for a place close by to grab a bite. We were greeted by friendly but discreet staff, made us feel right at home. While we browsed the menu we were served homemade foccacia and warm olives. The menu is based on italian traditional food with a twist. We shared an entree of ceviche of scallops, simple fresh and just heavenly. The sommelier advised us, within our budget, and offered us a choice of wines, we felt like we were partaking in the selection instead of having a wine imposed. I had a mushroom risotto as the main course, creamy to perfection, and my friend had a lamb in an espresso rub, delicious combination. I am planning another visit to Giorno e Sera for next week and have decided to share my secret gem with you! Hurry before it becomes impossible to get a reservation! This will definetely become a Montreal staple.
