Wife & I visited last month prior to cruise to Alaska. Spent a lot of time reviewing your comments, which proved right on the mark! We were only in (Marriott Waterfront) on a Friday nite/Saturday combination (no auto). We hit Matt's in the Market Friday night for dinner...even tho his place was full, "Matt" let the poor tourists in w/o a reservation and the meal was incredible. Told him we heard about it @ Chowhound (he was unaware). When I explained what is was, he told me: "well tell them its no good--we are already too crowded!"
Hit Le Pichet for Saturday breakfast...delicious and great atmosphere! Service was a little too French, if you know what I mean. (attitude)
Walking back from Church Saturday night, we passed a Thai restaurant called Jai Thai--very nice. Few blocks north of the Market. Never heard it mentioned on the boards, but we eat a lot of Thai, and this was very good Thai! Consider it a payback for your good suggestions.
Finally, had some great crumpets in the market, but I can't remember the name of the place (Crumpet House?--y'all will know). Thanks again!
