Had a five day business trip last month to Seattle. I scrounge here for places to try and this is what I came up with:
Pikes Place Chowder: I think I got the name right. This is the place on the fourth floor of the shopping center down town. I don't care if it's a chain or whatever. It was good. It was perfect after a long flight and better than I've ever had. Crab roll wasn't best thing ever though.
Elliotts Oyster House: Okay I fell for it. It was in walking distance. On the water. Looks like a ship. All versions of their baked oysters sucked IMO. Wine was good but I felt trapped once I was there. And expensive as hell.
Oceanaire: This was fantastic. I sat my happy ass at the oyster bar and had two dozen small sweet & briney Sound oysters and I was in heaven. 1/2 price for happy hour. The mignoette (sp?) was fantastic but hardly needed.
Salumi almost- Gyro: I tried to go to Salumi but the hour and a half wait would have made the airport risky. So I tried the gyro place across the street. And I'm pretty sure that was one of the best gyros I've ever had. Almost as good as the donar kabob in Cleveland. perfectly spiced and proportioned the meat so tender it would have been better on a bed of rice. Really great. If you know the name please post it here so they get the credit they deserve.
I went to a couple other places not so notable. Thanks again chowhounders for showing a homie where to get some good eats!
