Seattle - Dinner with the parents

chikkin | May 23, 200602:03 AM     6

I'm relatively new to Seattle, and my parents are coming for a visit this week.

I'm looking for recommendations for a special dinner as a thank you for some pretty big favors from the recent past. I want a fun and memorable experience, which may or may not mean going to the most expensive place in town. Not necessarily white napkins and quiet tables, but quality food is a must and a fun atmosphere would be a nice bonus.

The folks are from Texas, so I'm looking for good, fresh seafood, which they can't get at home. They appreciate creative cuisine, but for this one, I really want to find some place that emphasizes fresh ingredients first and foremost -- a more straight-ahead seafood menu.

I've been to Oceannaire and think this might be appropriate, but since it's a chain, I'm wondering if you fine folks might have some even better recommendations. Something with a little local color would be nice. Atmosphere does not have to be fancy, but can be (my parents appreciate a good dive when the fare is great).

As far as price, I'd say I don't want to spend more than I would someplace like Oceannaire. Also, my 2-year-old daughter will be with us. She's generally good in restaurants, but, still, she is 2, so this should be taken into consideration.

Thanks in advance for your help!
