seasonal sushi?

I've had a few sushi treats recently, which has only made me want to seek out more.

Yo got in some exceptional sanma yesterday, which he said is probably the last of the season. The engawa (halibut fin) and toro seemed especially good.

The week before last I had my first taste of fugu at Tekka; a friend of Nobu's had flown in from Japan a few hours before, and he decided to treat everyone, including those of us who'd waited out in the rain, hoping to be let in before he closed. Nobu served both sashimi and the blowfish skin. I thought the texture was more impressive than the flavor; another macho sushi experience. And I would have waited in the rain just for the agedashi dofu. But it's always exciting to try something new.

Anyone have unusual fish stories that don't involve goldfish bowls? Live uni spottings?
