SeaSalt $1 oysters and other things

Never quite knowing where to go for a meal before a show at Freight and Salvage, we checked out SeaSalt. Overall impression -- nice neighborhood place with excellent quality oysters. The 6 oysters I enjoyed were especially nice for the price -- they now offer $1 oysters from 4-6 daily. Very fresh, juicy and delicious.

I also tried the grilled squid which came with a few gigantes beans and a tasty almond-basil pesto. Squid was very tender. A side of Asian slaw wasn't very Asian, with a light but very bland dressing. But it was fresh and cruncy.

My husband went for the fish and chips, which as we sat at the counter seemed the most popular order. These were a light, cornmeal type batter, with 3 good sized pieces of rock cod, a few fries and a small spoonful of the slaw. The fish was well prepared.

The wine list is interesting with a few good selections available by the glass. With 3 glasses of wine and a pot of tea, plus the above food, the tab was about $67.
