I know, I know...what was I really expecting?
We had a special occasion in the family and the honoree requested
lobster. We've been putting him off long enough and had to finally give in.
How can a restaurant spoil a 1 1/2 lb. steamed lobster? First, by
refusing to honor the weekly specials listed on their online menu. The menu
had recently changed and they had not updated their site. In good
faith, it's what brought us there that night. But they stated there was
nothing they could do. The lobster was on the regular menu but for $10 more
and without the salad/side dishes.
So, 4 out of 5 of us went with the evening's special of steamed lobster
tail, stuffed jumbo prawn and filet mignon. Of course, the prawn was
overcooked and tasteless. One of the filets was inedible with a strange
texture and taste. A mention to the server produced only an "oh...we'll
check it out." The rest of us tasted nothing strange but consequently felt uneasy about our meat.
I did call the restaurant the next day and spoke to the manager. I
thought he should know about mishaps of the meal. I left him my name and
number and can only assume it landed in the trash. I don't know what I
was expecting in return but an apology, at the very least, would have
Seafood Peddler is not a place I frequent often so dropping it from our
repertoire is no big deal. I will not return again and I thought I
would warn others to avoid it if they could.
