Seafood Empire in San Gabriel

Chandavkl | Jun 19, 2006 05:51 PM

Don't know if it's more style than substance, but a new restaurant in San Gabriel called Seafood Empire at 250 W. Valley Bl. (in the former New Capital Seafood space) seems to be taking Hong Kong style seafood to a new level. Their menu begins with an array of seasonally priced live seafood items, and while live seafood is the mark of any Hong Kong seafood palace, the combination of the conspicuous menu placement and a listing of a larger number of live seafood items as well as a greater number of preparation alternatives appears to make Seafood Empire distinctive. The downstairs dining area is rather small, but I believe there may also be an upstairs eating area. I was by myself so I only had a lunch special (fish with vegetables--extremely good), so other hounds will have to flesh this place out further.
