best seafood downtown - the ? I get most often

I get asked this all the time by people going to boston, but I am a vegetarian totally unqualified to answer, and now I don't even live there anymore (but get the question on a monthly basis, still!).

What are the best seafood restaurants downtown (esp. near all the big hotels), in terms of quality, even if touristy? (For instance, the no name, I know, is not great, but people seem to get a kick out of going there, is there anything remotely close to that "authentic" atmosphere?)

Or, alternately, what is the quintessential Boston restaurant if you're there for one night (caveat: dinner for two UNDER $100 not including drinks)?

I hate not having answers to these questions, and everyone I know is going to Boston this summer ( and knows I grew up there)...
