I'm lucky enough to be going to Per Se in a few weeks. My wife and I will be dining with another couple.
My question relates to the wine selection. We are not connoisseurs by any means, but recognize that, when having a meal like this, a decent wine is a necessity. At the same time, my wife is already looking askance at the idea of spending $175 each for food alone (I know, what's her problem?), and she will absolutely put her food down at adding on another $120 pp for the wine pairings.
So, what do you think we should do? My thinking is a bottle of red and a bottle of white (but no bottle of rose tonight) for the table. Are there good selections for non-exorbitant prices?
