SD - What's Been in Your Rotation - 2018

Hey guys, been thinking about this lately, so here we go !

What are your favorite places to get a quick bite, happy hour, full on dining?

Lately, I've been haunting:

Sang Dao for Thai
Ly Heng for Cambodian
Pho Cali for Pho
Juniper & Ivy for anything they make
Buono Appetito thy have a pretty good filet entree
Whiskey House for happy hour
Nine Ten for happy hour
Water grill for seafood and the bar
Raki Raki for ramen
Crack Shack, need I say more Coop DeVille
Carnitas Snack Shack
Village Kitchen for Hunan
Cucina Urbana - brunt brussels sprouts
Grand Ole BBQ y Asado, brisket 

Not to mention my fav fish taco truck and barbacoa

I plan to get to Trust, octopus....yum!

I still need get some excellent Szechuan Hot Pot, impossible for one, I need hungry bodies.

Just back from Mexico City on holiday, but thought I'd comment -- howbeit belatedly. 

Somewhat like DD, different reasons outstanding, I don't really have a "rotation", per se. I decide on any given day the kind of food I'd like that day, and act on impulse.

I could list a number of restaurants that I'm inclined to go to more often than others of late, I suppose, but I don't think that's what you meant by "rotation".

Just checking in to see the latest news in San Diego -- had to move away one year ago and miss the city more than I ever expected as my new place is seriously lacking in the dining and drinking department. While the Chinese and Japanese food here is excellent (and much better than in SD), there's no variety other than that. I can forget about Ethiopian food, decent Italian or a good pizza. Craft breweries are few and far between (everyone here thinks Heineken is a good beer). And what hurts the most is the Mexican food is straight-up awful -- went to a place that everyone raved about and ordered basic carne asada tacos, and was served flour tortillas stuffed with some odd beef stew. The culinary scene here is way behind SoCal and is stuck where San Diego was over a decade ago before it boomed. Just wanted to say that I miss this thread (and dining out in San Diego!)

If I could go to a SD happy right now for drinks and eats, I'd pick from this list: Wet Stone in Bankers Hill for the white sangria and pork belly appetizer; Beerfish in North Park for dollar oysters, steamed clams and draft beer; or the Nolen for a strong (and reasonably priced) drink and nice view. I'd also want a sandwich from Biga, and all the tacos I could eat!

Anyway, just wanted to say that I miss this thread and eating my way around SD.

Kinda North Park skewed due to it being my neighborhood, but here goes: City Tacos for the shrimp and the chile relleno tacos, Yogart for their mangonada, Bully's for their "nooner" which is currently off menu, BBQ Pit, Grand Ole BBQ Y Asado, Brother's Mexican food for their chile relleno, Pekin Cafe by the NP Theater, Espetto's in Hillcrest. Oh, I almost forgot, gyros sandwiches at Olympic Cafe, and the custard filled pastry they have at night. I try to hit new spots from my ever-growing list of "new places to try" when I'm in a different part of town. Just tried Stella Jean's ice cream by Pop Pies--love the salted caramel corn and s'mores flavors. Got to go back to try some more.
