SD-Cafe India

I have been to many tasty spots over the last few months, I think it's about time I start writing it down! While out doing seemingly endless errands, I went to the vegetarian buffet at Cafe India, 3760 Sports Arena Blvd., it's kind of hard to find, in a minimall, you can't see it from the street.
They had about 4 different dishes in the buffet for $10, and for $2 more we got a chicken curry. The buffet also comes with naan, which was kind of flat and crispier on one side, which made me think it was not baked in a tandoori oven, but still took full advantage of my weakness for fresh baked bread.
There was a good creamy vegetable (korma?) and a tomato-y tofu dish. There were also 2 kinds of soups and lots of garnishes, like raita (yogurt cucumber). The chai tea was really good, and a mango lassi was very mango-y. And they brought a nice rice pudding dessert.
One of the nicest things was that the owner was so appreciative that we finished all our food, that we didn't waste food. She said that said more than any thank you could.
All of the dishes were good and flavorful, but maybe suffered from the fact that we went late in the afternoon, when it had been sitting in the steam tables for awhile.
Next time I'd like to try Maharajah, on Rosecrans, and see how it compares, and later try the Madras Cafe in Mira Mesa. So much to eat!
