Getting 'screwed' in Manhattan restos

Has anyone had the experience, esp. in the pricier eateries, of being 'screwed' in the sense that you've been misled by menu language and paid more than you expected, being
'given' things that you didn't order and being charged for them,
supplemental charges for things like truffles, a reserve wine, et al? I was, at Wayne Nish's March restaurant, a victim of the truffle swindle - our table was asked if we 'liked truffles', to which we said yes, and suddenly we were each charged an additional $75/person. Has anyone out there had a similar experience, either at March or anywhere else in Manhattan?
