Scotty's Donuts, Vallejo

Melanie Wong | Jun 26, 200204:24 AM

That's what the sign says on one side of the building, the one on the front says Scotty's Restaurant. This place had been recommended to me for an old time, stick to the ribs breakfast. No time for the whole shebang this morning, I only poked my head inside this vintage coffee shop and grabbed a couple donuts for the road.

Despite the aroma of stale oil in the air, the donuts and pastries in the case looked fresh and bigger than normal. The glazed old-fashioned turned out to have too thick a glaze and was a sinker with a too soft crust. The chocolate cruller was too wet and heavy as well. No winners here.

Guess I'll move this to the bottom of my list of breakfast referrals to try.
