Dinner last night at Scopa was excellent, the food and service here is first class. Four of us feasted from start to finish.
We wanted to sample of variety of items so we started with the Scopa Antipasto plate for four which was a large plate filled with so many things, I can’t remember them all :) Some were pickled onions and cauliflower, roasted red beets, baby cherry hot peppers, julienne zucchini, sardines, two meats, mortadella and prosciutto, pecorino cheese and grilled crostini topped with rabbit pate. This was a meal all by itself but we had also ordered a special appetizer, grilled crostini topped with creamy ricotta and a chili pepper jam. Wow, this was just a unique blend of flavors that was delicious.
On to the mains which totally kept up the pace. Pizza con Salsiccia with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Calabrese sausage and Cardoncello mushrooms, Spicy and yummy,
Nonna’s tomato braised chicken with sautéed greens and soft polenta came out in a cauldron and was juicy, tender and full of flavor. Two of us split the rib eye for two, an enormous cut of delicious charred beef, a perfect medium rare and came with rosemary roasted potatoes and a arugula – parmigiano salad.
Totally stuffed but we shared a couple of excellent desserts. Blood orange pistachio pound cake with pistachio gelato was fantastic and the panna cotta with berry coulis was creamy and rich but not at all heavy.
Service was stellar all night and this was with the place packed. This was our second excellent meal at Scopa and along with Barndiva ranks as a favorite in Healdsburg.
