I'll be visiting San Francisco next month and recently noticed that Scoma's clam chowder was given high praise in Newsweek magazine. As the Newsweek site charges for archived articles, here is the quote:
"Scoma's (San Francisco): Overlooking the bay at Fisherman's Wharf, Scoma's has rich, creamy clam chowder infused with leeks, celery, garlic and thyme. $4.95/8 oz.; 415-771-4383"
I was thinking about giving it a try when I was in town but noticed that a recent Chowhound thread disparaged the clam chowders served on Fisherman's Wharf.
Since there was no discussion about Scoma's specifically, I would be interested in some feedback from those of you who have personally tried this chowder. Is it worth the fuss that Newsweek made about it?
