Old-School Italian in Philly

Next week, I'll be back in Philly for the first time in 15 years (Penn grad & L.A. 'hound) for a couple of days. While I plan on hitting a couple of places for nostalgia purposes, I've got a couple of questions.

First and foremost, we want to have one dinner at an old-school, south Philly Italian restaurant. I've heard of places like Villa di Roma, Ralph's, & Dante & Luigi's. Where should we go? N.B. - places that serve wine preferred, so we don't have to go try to find a bottle elsewhere.

Also, and I know this might be opening a can of worms, but what's the consensus pick for best Italian hoagie in town? When I was in college, my regular haunts were the ones close to campus - Abner's & Lee's - and I'll probably end up hitting one of them when I visit the campus (the nostalgia thing). But if there's someplace else that I absolutely MUST try, I'd love to know about it.
