Can I use schmalz (chicken fat) for deep frying?

Lard is used traditionally for some deep frying, but I have also read that it has a low smoke point and is not as good as vegetable oil. I render the oil from chicken skins for stir-frying, and wondered what would happen if I used it to fry chicken, for example?
