Scallions in Italian cooking?

Just watched an episode of Lidia Bastianich's Lidia's Kitchen in which she made a penne with mushrooms dish. She added scallions and it struck that I can't recall ever seeing an Italian dish made with them. I'm certainly not an expert on Italian produce, or cooking either, but wondered if scallions are found in Italy as ubiquitously as they are in the US. Plenty of onion varieties I'm sure, but the same type of scallions or green onions we see?
