Savory soft tofu - Chinese breakfast dish

Dear fellow Chinese food maniacs,
Does anyone know of a place selling a dish that was common in northern-style restaurants in Taipei and which I also ate in Wuxi - soft custardy curds of just-made tofu (doufu), with a savory sauce of soy saucs, hot oil, green onions, ginger, pickled vegetables? It's called doufu hua (tofu flowers) or doufu nao (doufu brains) - the last because it does look rather like cooked brains in sauce.
I've seen the soft doufu for sale on the street in Chinatown, but here it seems to be sold with a sweet sauce to be added.
Ideally want a place where the dish could be part of a complete northern-style breakfast, any such outfit in NY 5 boroughs?
