Restaurants & Bars

Savoia et al.

rosswords | Dec 26, 2001 11:27 PM

It looks like a new restaurant called Savoia is about to open on Smith St. between Sackett and DeGraw. Since Savoia is the Italian spelling of Savoie (or Savoy), I'd guess it's going to serve food from the French/Italian border region. Anyone have any info on the when/what/who of this place?

While I'm at it, it looks like another restaurant is about to go in across the street right next to Bar. No signs are up yet, but they seem to be spending a lot of money on the place. Anyone know what's going in?

Or when the brick oven pizza place on the same block will open?

By the way, someone's started putting up notices that call this neighborhood BoCoCa (for Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens). I think that's a horrible name. I've always preferred WeGo (for West of the Gowanus).
