My labor-saving project has turned laborious. I made a pot of split pea soup last night supposedly for dinner tonight. Soaked the split peas all day. Sauteed scallion, celery, carrot until softened, added the peas and fresh water, herbs, salt and pepper and a diced peeled potato. After an hour, the peas were still hard. After another hour probably 1/3 of the peas are still hard. It was 10. I gave up for the evening. Now I have a pot of soup with hard peas in the fridge. Can this soup be saved?
