Did anyone catch the Joey Altman episode which featured Sauls? It explained the mystery of their rather uninspiring latkes. Turned out they actually grill them. We were there last nite and are now happy to report they are doing a better job - doesn't beat home-made of course. No restaurant version really does (maybe Delancey's?)
I had the grilled seabass (NZ of course - i am still wistfully yearning for Chilean) which was perfectly grilled, moist, flavorful and slightly smoky. It was topped with crunchy bits of a nutty and piquant mixture - very tasty, misnamed (I think) in the menu as romescu sauce. Would love to know what was in it. Also accompanied by al dente green beans and kasha varnishkes. A great deal for $11.50. Who would have thunk?
