There's a new restaurant in town. Sauce at Andolini's serves 5 different menu items : Wings, Ribs, Burgers, Fries and Coleslaw. If you subscribe, as I do, to the mantra that smaller menus make for better quality food, then Sauce is your place.
I am a chicken wing fanatic. Wings are my favorite "sin" food and it is pretty hard to list off places in this area that sell great chicken wings, so usually when I am craving wings, I head to Kowloon for some Saugus wings. I admit, I was a little hesitant to try the wings at Sauce ( not quite recovered from the Buffalo Wild Wings trauma last October). I need not have been concerned. Sauce serves wings ( bone in or boneless) coated with your choice of 8 different "sauces" including Buffalo Grandpa , Honey roasted peanut satay, South Carolina mustard and my choice, the Soy Orange Glaze.
Three of us shared two 5 piece orders of wings, an order of french fries and burgers. The burgers ordered included 2 of the How Reuben got his Groove Back burger( topped with homemade cole slaw, Thousand Island dressing and Swiss Cheese) and one Plain Jane( plain burger with lettuce, tomato). The burgers were actually bigger than I thought they would be and very filling . I tried a bite of the cole slaw off one of the burgers and it was very tasty. The French Fries were so tasty that I stopped dipping them in ketchup after the first couple.
Besides the food, Sauce also serves a selection of craft beer, offers takeout service, limited delivery and shares the outdoor seating patio with Andolini's. I heard that the restaurant sold out on it's opening night. I am not surprised. Andover has been long overdue for this style of restaurant. For my part, I am glad to have a place close by for the next time I get a craving for good chicken wings.
