Sauce - new place in Davis Sq.

Wish this could be more positive, but - two of us tried three of the 25 "small plates," which they describe as "halfway between tapas and entrees." Calamari was the first, piping hot, nice texture, but not a particularly generous portion, and accompanied by really boring tomato sauce; second was a white pizza - caramelized onions were good, but overall, the pizza was nothing special - the crust was very thin, almost like an oversized Carr's water cracker; third was "short ribs of beef Stroganoff," at $10 one of the most expensive items. We had already finished the other two dishes when the server reported that the kitchen was backed up and the third would be delayed. When it finally arrived, it was thoroughly underwhelming: perhaps 2 small pieces of meat (we'll take their word that they were indeed short ribs)with several mushrooms, in sauce -- it took about three bites to finish the whole thing. Though the prices of individual dishes seem cheap enough, if you're really hungry, your total bill will be way overpriced for very mediocre fare.
