I just discovered a new farmers market downtown on Traction avenue (just east of Alameda)between 4th and 2nd street right near Blooms general store and Zip Fusion. A few decent fruit and vegetable stands, along with a greek food vendor with fresh feta, homemade eggplant dip and assorted olives, etc. and a new bakery with sesame baguettes and walnut and olive versions that were tasty --if pricey(4.50 for a country style olive loaf)but very fresh. It's pretty small and there's not a huge selection of produce--but I give them all points for setting up in the sweltering heat and it's nice to see fresh food infiltrating yet another neighborhood further east.
I found out it is every Saturday --so it is more for the growing downtown residential population. For about $20, I came home with some delicious peaches, grapes, heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, and the bread and greek things listed above.
