Any recommendations on where to get a good traditional English breakfast on a Saturday morning? With particular emphasis on really good black pudding. Ideally somewhere near Borough Market, since that's where I'm planning to walk around...
I remember watching Anthony Bourdain dig into a beautiful-looking black pudding at St. John Hotel on the London episode of The Layover, but it looks like that doesn't exist anymore, and St. John Bread & Wine doesn't serve black pudding (although I've read that their bacon sandwich is phenomenal).
I came up with a few options from my research:
- Maria's Market Cafe: Looks quaint and well-reviewed, black pudding looks good in the pictures.
- Roast: Looks more posh, seems to have a lot of mixed reviews for breakfast, although they say they have "Ramsay of Carluke's" black pudding. No idea if that's any good, but I would assume it's somewhat famous if they decided to call it out.
- Hawksmoor: High-end dining place, so I assume they do a decent breakfast. GQ says they have the best sausages in London??
I don't really care about cost or atmosphere, will be happy anywhere as long as the food is good :)
