Satay at Albany Bowl

Brian Murphy | Dec 10, 2001 05:52 PM

The little coffee shop attached to the Albany Bowl on San Pablo Ave in Albany has the tastiest chicken satay I've ever devoured. I like satay in general, but usually it's an excuse to slurp up the yummy peanut sauce with some unassuming strips of grilled chicken. This place served me 5 or 6 skewers of intesely flavored, rough-hewn chunks of chicken over rice - a meal more than a snack. The chicken was deeply marinated and juicy - so delicious I barely bothered the peanut sauce, which was also spicier than usual.

This place makes me smile. It's a traditional bowling alley coffee shop run by Thai folks. The menu is half diner food, half thai food. And the bowling is great too!
