Returning to Bay Area for a visit in a few weeks. Would love some SF suggestions for our one day (Saturday 5/10) in the city. Some background: faithful Chowhound when I lived there, fairly familiar with the city.
Our Saturday will start at the Ferry Building for breakfast/brunch/lunch, depending on the time we arrive. We will be attending the Giants game at 1PM. Would love to stay in the city for dinner and am open to having a drink beforehand, as we will have a gap between end of game time and dinnertime.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Would love places we can walk to or easily take public transportation to from ballpark. I've been to Coco500, places in the Mission like Foreign Cinema, Delfina, A16, fancier restaurants.
- We will be quite casual, so no fancy places please.
- We are open to all kinds of food and are quite adventurous, don't mind spending if it's worth it. Have eaten in Chinatown many times, am looking for something different. We live in Boston now, so are trying to find new things to try that we can't get here. That being said, no Mexican as the DC doesn't like it (even though I dream of what I used to have in the city!)
- Right now, I have Zuni on the list as I've always wanted to go there (despite mixed reviews). Besides that, I'm drawing blanks- been away too long! To be honest, I'm looking for places generally like the ones I mentioned above: great seasonal food, simplicity in cooking, casual atmosphere.
