SARS: Effect on local Chinese restaurants?

Browniebaker | Apr 28, 2003 05:57 PM

You and I have all heard that the SARS scare is taking its toll in Chinatowns across the U.S. But what about Chinese restaurants in the D.C. area? Are any of you avoiding Chinese restaurants because of SARS, either in the D.C. Chinatown or in the MD and VA suburbs? For the last three weekends I have noticed that business seems to be down in the Chinese restaurants I frequent in MD, but I don't know if it's the war with Iraq, concerns about the economy (related to the war), or SARS, or maybe all three.

I have been trying to do my part by eating out as usual, in defiance of the SARS hysteria, to support some of my favorite restaurants.

Any thoughts?
