While it's true to say that being at the sea shore can make even a so-so restaurant's offerings taste superb, I have also had some of the worst cases of "dodgy food" at such places. (Some crabs in Atlantic City - oy oy oy.)
I just wanted to say we enjoyed a very nice late lunch here. There are 2 restaurants, the Rusty Pelican is north of the Intracoastal right at the drawbridge. We ate on a shaded patio with excellent views of the Waterway traffic.
The butterflied shrimp were beautifully done and very lightly breaded. Perfect. Their catfish was juicy and excellent too. Cold beer, excellent service, and pretty surrounds. If you're about in Matagorda County give it a try. Not sure about Pier 57 across the street. It looked popular as well. Any reports of that to share? We were put off because of lack of outdoor seating there. Also the R.P. just looked a bit more hospitable.
