Recently I stumbled upon an in-store tasting of Sarah's Harvest Fresh Green Chickpea Hummus while shopping at Star Market in Salinas. Available in three flavors: Original, Cilantro/ Jalapeno or Garlic/ Rosemary, this hummus is made with fresh chickpeas instead of dried and rehydrated. This lends a lighter and more supple texture, as well as brighter flavor tones. I liked all three flavors but favored the garlic/rosemary and the plain.

Though a small production product, it's distributed widely in California, available at many retailers besides Star, including Safeway and Vons.
