For over 30 years the subs at Santoro's sustained me, when I lived in Malden and then whenever I was in the area. This was a small Mom&Pop place on Main St., 1 block from Malden Sq. (not part of a chain of the same name). Now it's closed.I don't know what made them so unique and never equaled anywhere else. The rolls were on the hard side and slit (not sliced in half). The onions, tomatoes, pickles, etc. were small cubes or chunks (not slices).Does anyone know a place where they make them the same way (Boston or South Suburban)?
