Being a cast iron fiend, I recently bought two "Sante" brand cast iron pieces at the local Goodwill - with no idea of their intended use. They look like small bowls, about 5"-6" across and 2"-3" high, with assist handles on each side, also out of cast iron. Can anyone attest to the quality? I did find this http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/684500 but not much else.
I'm curious if anyone's got a link to some recipes that make use of these types of small cast iron dishes? I envision something that gets served from the stove or oven directly to the table, still in the dish...but having never used them, I'm at a loss.
The last resort would be a couple great-looking planters for spices, etc.
Thanks for looking.
