Santa Fe Spirits Downtown Tasting Room

finlero | Sep 18, 201301:58 PM

Although Santa Fe Spirits' distillery is out by the airport and they have a tasting room there, they recently opened a downtown spot on Read St. (next to Cafe Cafe). This is a terrific little spot to grab some tasty craft cocktails from a solid local distiller.

Clean, generally quiet room with nice chairs to lounge in, and good, unobtrusive music playing in the background. Fairly priced cocktails (usually in the $6ish range) that are made with care. I had a totally respectable riff on a mint julep made their new mesquite smoked single malt (alas, served in a glass instead of a silver cup). I tried the single malt on its own, and although it was a little sharp (it's young and also overproofed at 92), it still had some cool stuff going on. My DC (drinking companion) had a few excellent Tom Collins(es), the up drinks looked similarly well done.

I was only in the front area, but I guess there are additional rooms in the back, including a larger space that would work as a function room.

Solid spot, instantly one of my favorite places to grab a non-margarita cocktail around town.
